MASTERS OF THE SUN VOL. 1 is the seventh studio album by the Black Eyed Peas, released on October 26, 2018. It marked their first album in eight years and the first after Fergie's departure from the group. The album's release was preceded by several singles and music videos. It is also their first album where they are credited as Black Eyed Peas (without the 'the' prefix) since Bridging the Gap in 2000.
Inspired by their graphic novel of the same name and the contemporary social climate of the United States, MASTERS OF THE SUN VOL. 1 is a political album that addresses social issues such as gun violence, police brutality, race relations, and the effects of social media. Musically, it represents a return to the group's hip-hop and boom bap style, reminiscent of their early albums. The album features guest appearances from Nas, Slick Rick, CL, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Posdnuos, Esthero and Nicole Scherzinger.

Significance
MASTERS OF THE SUN VOL. 1 marked a return to the Black Eyed Peas' hip-hop roots and a departure from their more recent electronic dance and pop-influenced albums. The album tackles socially conscious themes and features collaborations with several prominent artists. Critics have noted the album's mature sound and its blend of old-school hip-hop with contemporary elements.
The album is loosely inspired by the Black Eyed Peas' graphic novel, "Masters of the Sun: The Zombie Chronicles," published by Marvel Comics.
